Here’s a basic tutorial (click here) on how to make a hollow book/book safe. Although it doesn’t tell you how to make it as fancy as the version in this photo, it is actually fairly easy to jazz the basic tutorial up- in order to have an embossed image/shape, cut the last few pages into the shape of the image you want to show in relief. Then just glue each design cut page to the one below it.
Also, if you want the book to stay closed on its own, grab some small magnets, and cut a little ridge for them in the half inch border then glue them in place. Just make sure you get your north/south right otherwise the book will never close!!! If you want to get fancy, start cutting the ridge a few pages down before you glue the side of the pages together (depending on the strength of your magnets, i wouldn’t go more than 5-10 pages from the opening) so that when you do glue the side of the pages, the magnets will be hidden.
